The Flower Farm was featured in 'Weekend Notes"

After a great start to the week, things have been 'coming up roses' as The Flower Farm was featured on 'Weekend Notes'. We were pleasantly surprised when writer, traveller, and camera addict, Di Hill gave the farm a glowing write up of her experience shopping with us. We were also so happy to see some lovely comments from the general public as well!

If you are interested in reading Di's review in full we have included it in this link.

Our Red Soil

One of that great things Di harkens back to is a time when the redlands was fertile farming land, " Many folk remember the Redlands area and all the farms growing strawberries, vegetables, and so much more in the nutritious red soil of the area. Slowly over the years, many of the farms have disappeared as the housing estates took over".

We used that original red soil in our farming practices today. When we start preparing a new row for our crops the deep red colour really shines through. It is true that many farms have made way for newer developments, we plan to keep this farm running from generation to generation to continue to produce flowers that will last longer and look fresher.

Popping in store is always best

We would love to see you make the visit to our farm. We have a beautiful online website that features some of our larger bouquets and arrangements - plus a selection of our gifts and add-ons. This website however doesn't display our full range of gifts and bunches so it is always good come and see us in-store for fresh seasonal arrangement and more cost effective bunches. Plus you will get to meet our friendly staff and check out some of our displays, "Just walking into the shop is exciting - with great displays of the many flowers that they grow right on the property".

There is plenty to do

As Di points out in her article, there is plenty to do in the local area so when visiting us you can always make a day of it by checking out the local shopping precincts, local cafes and dining spots and of course make your way to the ocean.

Our flowers are grown not flown

To the general public it can be very hard to tell whether flowers are home grown or important just by looking at them. It is when you get home and place then in a vase that you will be able to tell. Home-grown simply last longer so by the time you realise your flowers are frozen and not fresh it is often too late.

Thanks for the great reviews

We thought we would share a few reviews from the comments section as we had some lovely support shown by customers:

"What a beautiful selection of blooms. The gerberas are so happy and looking them can't help but make anyone smile." - Gillian

"The Birkdale Flower Farm are grown onsite and sold onsite. I love our real local fresh flowers too, and you can see the difference." - Sheld

"Absolutely love their flowers, they last so long and the joy they bring to my dear ones. My gran is a local nursing home and the Birkdale Farm send all their loose flower excesses for them to do activities with. They are so special, love these guys. I think they are really humble farmers and people every time I meet the owners. I’m a local hair dresser and love my yarns with them. So sweet of you to blog on them." - Bec
